Cllr James Beer

Chairman

I was born in Truro and attended Bosvigo Primary followed by Truro School. I left Cornwall for further education and, after obtaining a degree and teaching qualification, I spent my working career as a teacher in Hertfordshire.

I retired in 2010 and returned ‘home’ in 2014 with my wife and we bought a property in Pink Moors. We are both practising members of the 8 Saints Cluster, worshipping at St Pauls Church, Chacewater, and are members of the ‘Open the Book’ team.

I am the co-ordinator of the St Day speedwatch initiative and a co-opted governor at St Day and Carharrack School. I am a keen vegetable gardener and I enjoy reading crime fiction. I also watch live and televised sport, particularly rugby which I played for many years. I like to stay fit
and am a member of Morgan’s Gym at Greenbottom.

I believe I have excellent communication skills and represent local views and opinions, together with building strong relationships with local people to encourage them to engage with the local council.

Having spent 6 years in the Parish, I can see how the Community has changed for the better as a result of the decisions the PC have made. Being a Councillor gives me a sense of achievement and pride; bringing about change, while maintaining the distinctiveness of the village and surrounding area – making a positive and useful contribution to the further improvements in the village, its environment, facilities and for the residents.
